yeah I guess lacquer on new ones would be fine. As you can see, I did not have that option.

Paint them - an old shirt does the trick for covering the discs as can slide up between the disc and pad. Then tape a cloth to the wheel arch - job done.

spray on lacquer, in a tall silver can with clear top if I remember correctly.

Its in the paints section and is just called clear lacquer. Cover wheel arch as it will get everywhere, put enough on so that it looks shiney. Takes a while to fully go hard. (said the actress to the bishop!!)

did everyone spray on the lacquer? doesnt this get into the workings of the brakes and all? is paint-on lacquer available anywhere?

has anyone tried Japlac High Gloss Enamel from International Paints? would that work too?

I didn't put that much on to worry about it - its quite a localised spray - plus any that does get anywhere it shouldn't will either wear or burn off!
