My brake pad wear warning light is currently showing on the dash. According to the previous owner the pads were done in the last 12 months and shouldn't be warn out. Is a sensor fault likley? If so how easy is it to fix?

Could be simply a rear brake light bulb gone !

Hi Will,

assuming your problem isn't a blown bulb or pads that are worn down (best to check) it is likely to be the sensor wire that has broken.

This is a pretty common problem and easy to fix.

On one side of the car there will be a wire that comes from the front wheel area to the brake pad, check this wire (actually two wires inside a sleeve) for any chaffing or breaks. If you find it is broken then just solder it back together. It should take you no longer than 15 minutes.

Good luck.

Steve.

Thanks

Gave the car a wash yesterday including a good flush of the brake calipers with the power washer, also gave the Battery a charge. One or both of those factors has sorted the problem it would seem!
