I'm googleing it, searching in FSM, I see its something about air heating but don't understand as I don't know shiat about diesel engines.

As far as I am aware it is an engine pre-heater commonly available as part of a "Winter Pack" on a car. You can normally program them to come on at specific times to warm the car up before you start it on cold mornings.

No idea. I wasn't specifically referring to the one on the IS220D that you pictured, just the general "Winter Pack" options offered on some cars. It could even be that it comes on with the ignition to speed up warm up rather than pre-heating, a Lexus service centre should be able to confirm how it works and what is configurable if anything.

It is a water pump for aux. heater. I am surprised you were unable to find this info on-line.
