Hello Guys, I am having a problem with the N/S/R door sometimes when I open the car up the rear door stays locked,so I have to try 2or3times to unlock it--what I need is some information on how to remove the door panel to see what the problem is.Possibly just a clean up and some lubrication should fix it,all or any information would help. :)

You need to remove the inner door panel and although the guide below is for the front door it may help you with the rear.

The most common cause is a failed actuator motor,I replaced just the motor in mine or see if Benfur has a complete unit as it is easier to replace the whole lock assy, also check for seized linkages but the motor is the favourite.

Keeping an eye on things then Maurice :D

Below is a picture of the front passenger lock, the rears are a little different with having no key operation the motor is the yellow cylinder.

Basically you need to remove the inner door panel then the plastic cover over the door holes, unlatch the control rods, unscrew the lock securing screws (3rd picture),release the wiring plug and then carefully withdraw the assembly through the door aperture.

The whole assembly I used the motor out of a series 3 for mine.

I have some close up pictures of the control rods and the nylon clip fastenings if you need them.

Hi,

2 years ago I repaired this issue on my LS400'99. If you want I can share photos (around 90) from step-by-step repair.

I didn't replaced small motor - just cleared it - worked with no problems till Nov '11 (LS400 was sold then).
