Ls 430 Atf Air Cooling

After my gearbox failure a mate has converted his 430 to air cooled atf a quick and simple job has anybody any experiance with this conversion as I am considering doing the same. Does a 430 have atf high temp warning light on dash?

I have heard of the LS400 being fitted with an air cooled transmission cooler as as the ATF is intercooled on the 430 I'm not sure if there is a specific Toyota branded conversion but I am sure a system could be retrofitted like your mates.

They are only normally required for harsh environments or heavy towing applications.

As far as I know there is no ATF temperature indicator on the 430.

I guess you don't trust the oil/ATF cooler fitted as standard any more after your recent disaster but the new one fitted should be servicable for many years.

I know it should be ok but once a seed of doubt is sown. I'm not in a rush to fit cooler but at cost of £70 for parts I think I'll do it a bit later in the year I'll post results just for intrest, my mate reckons gear changes are smoother since fitting his so we'll see. regards to all.
