Intermittant Clicking Noise On Start Up

Hello, I have a 1995 GS300 and have a starting problem that seems to be getting worse. When I turn the ignition key I get a distinctive click from the engine bay but the engine doesn't turn over. After the 5th or 6th time of doing this the engine starts up. I don't think it's the Battery as when it does fire up the Battery is strong, this problem seems to be getting worse (i.e it taking more attempts before the engine finally starts) It seems to be worse if the car has been stood a while (overnight maybe). Any ideas? Many thanks

Sounds like the solenoid contacts in the starter motor. Eventually it will give up completely or jam on and keep cranking even when you switch the ignition off. There is a link in my signature block to a tutorial I wrote for overhauling the starter if you are into DIY.
