Why is it that if you are going to fit D.R.L. on your car they must go off, when you put the sidlights on? Yet the new cars that have them fitted stay on with the sidelights.why is there a difference?

On the newer cars they have to dim when the sidelights are turned on, as the newer LED DRLs are much brighter than the sidelights and would dazzle people at night.

But unless you have very bright DRLs it would probably be fine to leave them on.
