Are the front calipers the type that pivot (rotate) when the top bolt, in the picture, and its corresponding one below the flexi are loosened and one removed, exposing the pads held in by the anti rattle springs.Thx.

I always remove both top and bottom nuts (13mm) caliper pin nut (17mm) as you will need to remove the caliper pins (just slide off the rubber boots) then clean and regrease them before refitting.

Suspend the caliper with wire or something so there is no strain on the brake hose.

Wow & Steve, Thanks for that. I now have a clear idea from your info. Discs and pads have plenty of meat on them just wanted to check pads and clean out any gunge before weather gets too cold plus there's been a lot on LOC about sticky pins.

You can just pivot them up if you remove one, but I would always recommend greasing the slide pins whenever you do anything with them like Steve mentions. There are a couple of tutorials I did in my signature below on disc/pads/slide pins which may help.
