Shark Fin On 03 Gs300 - Whats It For?

Hi,

I've recently become the owner of a 2003 GS300. It has a shark fin antenna on the roof, but also has the telescopic aerial on the back. My question is what is this shark fin used for? I want to wire in a Pure Highway DAB radio, and was thinking of replacing this shark fin with a DAB antenna.

It is, as far as I know, GPS receiver for satnav.

I don't recall any 2nd gen GS's having a sharks fin to be honest. I would suspect it was someone adding an aftermarket one.

My GS 430 has a short black antenna at rear of roof which is what I thought OP was referring to.

The previous owner has a Sony Ericsson Bluetooth kit installed, so sounds like its related to that. Thanks everyone!

I wonder what that is then? The GPS receiver is around the rear parcel shelf I think. There's no external antenna on my GS430 satnav, maybe it is a cellphone antenna on yours?

Possibly. Mine does have a factory fitted phonecradle in top centre armrest/box and controls on steering column.
