All cars built after January 1996 are fitted with OBDII diagnostics so yes yours will have it.

The socket is normally located under the dash area on the driver's side, it is a rectangular socket for the interface connection.

If you search on Google for OBDII codes most will be listed although there may be some manufacturer specific codes also.

mk1 GS's are not OBDII compliant so don't waste your money mate.

Full OBDII compliance was mandatory from 96 onwards in the US, but didn't come in until 2000 in europe unfortunately.

Yeah that was my dilemma... I know the US required OBDII from 1996 but I've only seen reference to it on the 1997 MkII. Such a shame as I fancied getting an onboard performance computer. Such a shame
