Thank You & My Ls400

Hello, just wanted to thank you with all the advice you have given in this forum and post a couple of pictures of my Ls400.

The story of my Ls400 is that I used to live in Ireland (6½ years), where I bought the car. My friend had a dream car, a Nissan Skyline r34 and when he bought his dream car, I started to think why I cannot do the same. I have always liked large sedan cars, one of my favorite was Cadillac Seville STS, but none of them could be bought in Ireland. Then I started to think BMW 750, since would be nice to buy V12 engined car, but BMW is not my style. For some strange reason MB S-class never even came to my mind, so then I started to look for LS400. First I saw 1995 version, but it was rough, 217k miles and old taxi. I still have to say that first drive with the LS400 was quite a shock, in a good way. Soft suspension and quietness really was a surprise, so was the size of the car. Behind the steering wheel it felt like driving a battleship:)

Then week later I found my LS400, year 1998 and I bought it right away, 2150 euro. I kept in Ireland for six months and then drove it trough Ireland-France-Belgium-Holland-Germany to Finland and the when in Helsinki I drove the car 650km more to the north of Finland. Eventually after 6 days of driving and 3100km I was in home.

Then I registered the car to Finnish customs and waited and waited to get info can I get the car tax free to Finland or not. Finally last week I got the result I needed and the car was registered to Finland and I did not have to pay any tax:). Similar, year 1998 car in Finland is about 10 000 euro, so not a bad saving and nice memory from Ireland.

I could not see how I would be able to do this without the help of this forum, so thank you again.

I cant tell what colour yours is but the interior is exactly the same as my 98 LS400 in green

Are LS400s rare in Finland ?

Ls400 is rare care in Finland, at the moment there are under 10 Ls400 models for sale in widely used website and 2 of them are same year than mine.

There is none Ls430 for sale at all.

So I would say that for year 1998 Ls400 there are maybe 10-20 cars in the country, I think in Finland there are around 2 million cars so yep it is quite rare:)

For instance you can see MB S-class almost every day, but not Ls400.
