Is200 Hydraulic Bonnet Struts.

A (probably LARGE :duh:) number of years ago I bought a set of hydraulic bonnet struts from Prolex-uk for my IS200.

Easy to fit and not had any problems with them.

However, the lower mounting brackets were looking a bit weak and starting to bend when people got heavy handed. <_<

On checking "Figs Engineering" website who I believe were the supplier at the time I found they'd introduced a new stronger looking bracket.

Contacted them and they confirmed they were indeed using a different lower bracket on their kits.

Fortunately they seemed more than happy to sell me some new brackets so I bought a set.

That was around August 2009 a set of new Black brackets arrived and have been waiting to be painted to match.

With that job done recently I finally got round to fitting them today so took a few pics while I was at it.

I'll bung them here but I better mention a few things which may or may not be relevant.

1) I don't know if the kit from Prolex is still the FIGS one or whether they have a different one now.

2) It could be that other people already have the newer type brackets as I've had this quite a while.

3) The new brackets from FIGS cost me $40 shipped but that was August 2009 so probably not right now.

Here's the old brackets I removed today :-

Doesn't look a particularly solid mounting and the nearside is the most bendy.

Now here's the new ones I put in their place :-

Look a bit more substantial and more of a solid fixing. :)

A trivial job yes but one less thing for this 'old guy' to be worried about. :lookaround:
