Lexus Is200 Drivers Side Central Locking Problem

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have a 53 reg Dec2003 Lexus IS200 SE Auto Navigator with 56k on clock. Had since 3k on clock.

Its been about 6 months now, and its bugging my .its off.

The central locking works fine with the remote, opening /closing all 3 doors except drivers door. Its the same with the open/close central locking button in the drivers door.

I have to manually use a key to lock/unlock the drivers door.

But the funny thing is , if i keep the key in the ignition and open the door and manually use the the lock latch button beside the chrome handle it opens and closes all 3 doors. Also if i step out of car and press central locking button i can hear a click beside the drivers side door lock.

I got mechanic to strip door and check for loose electrical connections or to see if something has disconnected.

He checked and said there are two rods going to the motor and they are connected, he also checked for power going to the motor and said that is fine also. He said the motor unit is sealed and although all looks fine, it must be faulty.

I did ask my local lexus dealer in Glasgow and the said they would have to strip door and charge me 2 hours or so of labour to find fault, and thats not including price of parts.

Does anyone please know of a solution and if it is more likely to be a faulty motor, where i could buy one cheap. I am sure lexus would charge over £100 for one.

Any Ideas would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks.

Nad.
