Climate Control - Is This Faulty ?

Recommended Posts

We leave the climate control set on auto and simply adjust the temperature. In Summer months, as now, that puts cold air into the car until the temperature is down where we want it. So far, so good……but it is noticeable that the cold air comes out only from the face vents. In auto mode cold air never comes out of the floor or windscreen vents. Is this normal or a fault ? (I’m hoping it is a fault as my wife would much prefer a mixed distribution of cold air. I realise that we can achieve that to a limited extent through the climate screen – but I’d be a lot happier if auto did this automatically, as it used to do on my beemer).

My RX400h is the same. No matter how hot it is inside the car, cold air is only delivered from the face level vents in Auto mode.

It does switch to floor level if the temp required is increased to demand a much higher temp.

I have not checked the manual, but assume this to be normal. Happy with it though.

My car also does this and always has, if you look at your Lexus handbook, there is a illustrated diagram which shows you where the air comes out according to which setting you have it on. As far as I know, this is how it should work and is not a fault.
