I have a 1994 Mk2 but cannot see any mention at all in my handbook that says it has a pollen filter?

Do only the newer LS400s have filters or is it only imported models?

I've looked through all the service records going back to 2000 and it has never had a pollen filter fitted so maybe it doesnt have one?

Does anyone know if it does have a filter and if so is it easy to change and do they actually work in keeping some pollen out(and help my hayfever!!)

Many thanks

Andy

My UK Mk2 has got one (actually it's a pair) but I don't think it's mentioned in the handbook. Replacing them isn't too hard - you pull off the trim under the glovebox and then remove a plastic cover on the bottom of the heater/blower unit. The filters have a folding joint to help get them in and out.

Luckily my hayfever isn't too bad these days as long as I take the tablets, so I can't really say how much difference the filter makes.

[Many thanks for info, looks a fairly easy job to do.

Just been on to Lexus who want £65 for the 2 filters!!! I've tried other places but they keep trying to sell me just one filter which obviously wont fit. I'll try a few other places, but looks like it might have to be Lexus at £65....size=2]

I'm fairly sure the two filters came together in one box when I got mine, so you should only need to order one of whatever part number it is. Maybe £65 would get you four filters!

I'll try to find the invoice this evening to confirm.

I think the filters should be activated charcoal which is why they're a bit more expensive than normal paper filters. You can, however, buy filters from eBay at a much lower price.

OK in January 2009 I paid £56.71 and that was with a 5% discount, so that £65 quote is probably correct. The part number is 88880-50020.

Many thanks for more info Chris, it seems the £65 quoted from Lexus is right. I have looked on eBay but the only filters available seem to be for newer models which seem to be only one piece and not two. It looks like I'll be going to Lexus to get original parts..

I searched everywhere for a filter for my 93 LS but the only place I could find one was a main dealer at £67 inc VAT. Steve2006 said he cleans his and allows them to dry, a much cheaper option but one I didn't have as mine was missing!
