It All Comes At Once, Exhaust Now!

While looking for new alloys my exhaust developed a rattle, on closer inspection it is one of the smaller heat sheilds on the middle section, took it to a local tyre and exhaust garage who said the weld has come loose and I would need a new centre peice! which is only available from Lexus, I on the other hand think it should be fine to get it re-welded, anyone got any reasons as to why I shouldnt do this? Also anyone know who could do this in the Kidderminster area?

Use a couple of metal tie-wraps around the heat shield.

Infact, I don't remember any welds on mine, the shields are wrapped around and crimped around the edges??

Even if you go the welding route, I can't think of any reason why it shouldn't be done.

so i take it that it is the centre section that as gone not the heat sheild ? it was the mid section that went on mine after shopping around and found out it is only LEXUS part I decided to go stainless steel cat back £389, the address is MIJ exhaust, rolling mill street, walsall, WS2 9EG, 01922645646 info@mijexhaust.com, it takes them 3 to 4 hours to make and fit it

Forgot I had a mate who's dad owns a garage, job done for £10 cant complain, ordered some new pads on the way home to, decided may as well do those while Ive got two days off :) cheers for the replies guys
