How Low Is My Car?

..or high rather!

The bloke I brought it off said it has 50mm lowering springs on it, I know IS200's sit very high as standard but I do not think this is a 50mm drop? The front is okay but the back looks well high.

Can anyone let me know what they think, if anyone who has dropped theres 50mm would be willing to take a few ground to body measurements for me I would be very gratefull too :shifty:

chances are it has been lowered, whether or not its by 50mm is debatable. personally i think your problem may be the tyres.

they look far to low profile for the stock rims. they should be 215/45/17 for the wheels you've got.

if they are any lower than a 45 profile then the reason is looks high is just because the tyres arent filling the arches as much as they should.

yip lowered on cheap eBay springs...i had them on mine.....drops 40mm but on a sport thats more like 25mm due to the sport being lower...

mine also sat higher at the rear(99) its only the newer ones that were level....so theirs nothing wrong with your car..

i don't mean to hijack this thread but...

I've replace my suspension with coilovers and I've now got quite a bad camber issue on the rear!!! Why?? I went to a local specialist and they said It's because it's too low. When the coilovers were fitted the guy who done it said he had dropped all 4 corners to the same height (60mm - i don't know where he's measuring from. Is it measured from centre of the wheel to the arch?!?!?!)

Has anyone else had this camber issue when fitting coilovers?

The specialist I went to gave me a geometry print out that really needs sorting.

Does anyone know a reputable WIM type company around Essex or London?

My tyres are starting to suffer and I can't afford to replace them every couple of months.

Hope you wonderful guys can help ;)

i have that problem mate but i lowered mine 100mm at the rear but to be honest my cambers not that bad...4 deg...if you get someone that knows what theyre doing then the camber can be bettered....the problem is you run out of adjustment after after 40mm.....

you can buy new adjusters from the states though

Well apparently my car is 10mm lower at the back than the front. But due to the possibility of adding weight in the boot or on the backseat it should ideally be 10mm higher than the front (It makes perfect sense but that's what I've been told)

what are the chances of this issue being rectified to some degree (excuse the pun)if the rear is raised by a total of 20mm from the height its currently sitting at?

depends on how hard the shocks are set up to how the car hight alters when weight is in the rear.... i have mine 90mm front and 100mm rear as i like my car sitting level...my camber is 4deg out and thats max adjustment due to my wheels being in the arch if i roll my arches i could get it less....

i think you should go get the alighnment done it sounds like its not been...

Nothing wrong with a set every 4-5months

I got 4 brand new tyres 2 weeks ago. I'll let you know how long until I need another set.

I reckon it'll be sooner than 4 - 5 months
