Rear Wheel Bearings

hi all, well a upsetting day for me today my baby (mk4 98 ls400) FAILED its mot(never failed or had a advisory in my 4yrs of owner ship) on a rear wheel bearing (offside) with a advisory on the nearside bearing as well, i phoned lexus for the complete set and nearly fell on my butt when the parts man quoted well over £600, so q uick call to local motorfactor and quoted £110 +vat per side so ordered these and should be with me in morning

NOW the big ? is how the hell do ya fit them...... i thought id prep car tonight ready to just fit parts in morning i took of wheel and took out split pin n tried to remove the nut.... n im buggered if i can get the nut loose, tried with socket and long extension crack bar and NOTHING lol soaked in wd40 and tried again didnt budge at all,

any help will be gratefull

obviously you checked right & left handedness? of the threads. (not sure if this applies)

break out the blowtorch and hammers!.

good luck , remeber my metro once , ended up replacing the whole corner (with hydro elastic thingy still attached) that was with a 2+ meter scaffold pole it wouldnt budge :/

also havent got the manual handy , but you might need a VERY good press.

Thankyou youve just depressed me now lol ah well tools away now gonna take it to garage n let them do it as soon as my parts are in, hopefully within the next 2 hrs, then try and get car booked in somewhere asap as im away on sunday till thursday morning n if it doesnt get done by then its a full retest again :tsktsk:

its annoying as hell as im only gonna be selling it in acouple off weeks or so as im upgrading to a 55 plate ls430 :winky:

car now sat in local garage waiting to be worked on 1st thing in morning,

£132 for bearing kit and garage quoted me 2-3hrs labour £100,

car now sorted n away to pick her up now WOOOOHOOOO lol, although was only in garage for a short time I MISSED HER hehe kisses n boozies n polish n wax when i get her back lol
