Yee, well I bought the set that still had tyres on. So it would have been difficult to see without removing them. It's just a couple of minor flat spots, which they said they would correct to improve the balance of the wheel. And they were both on inside edges too, so wont effect how they look. He said they should be ready to collect on Monday. :)

Any pics or news on how they came out?

As requested, pictures of the refurbed rims from pristine alloys. I think the silver was one shade lighter than their standard finish and I asked that they use a satin laquer. I'll get some pictures up of them on the car once my tyres arrive. :)

Well...latest update on the wheels. And it's not looking so good.

Got the tyres fitted during the week by WIM, and as anyone who has used them before will know they have that amazing automated tyre fitting machine which clamps the rim through the centre hole.

However, it appears that Pristine alloys did not bake the wheel for long enough after the refurb and the paint has split all around the edge of the centre hole where it was clamped.

The wheels have been sat in our people carrier for a few days while I find time to fit them, and the car now has a very strong smell of paint where it clearly isn't cured enough.

So I will be taking a trip back up to Pristine with the wheels and a bill for the tyre fitting/balancing and I'll get them to redo them...properly!

Feel for you mate. I had mine fitted by Lexus in the conventional way. No fancy automated machine. Hope Pristine sorts it out for you.

After initially denying all responsibility for the damage, saying it was the tyre fitting machine that was at fault etc. He then went on to say that if it was their work that was at fault then the edge of the rim would have been damaged during tyre fitting too, I then explained to him that the whole point of clamping them through the centre hole was because it was a state of the art machine which doesnt touch the rim, which shut him up for a few seconds.

Being an engineer who gets products powder coated all the time I thought I'd throw in some extra terminology, so I asked if he could provide a certificate of conformity for the powder coat finish they had applied. The guy I was speaking to then went off to talk to the bloke in charge of the powder coating. And came back looking rather sheepish, and then admitted it looked like the powder coating hadent bonded properly to the metal beneath. So they are doing all 4 rims again and refitting my tyres for me.

Bit of a pain but at least they should be ready to put on when they come back some time this week.
