Mk 4 Alarm Problems

I am sure I have read reports on this problem before but can`t remember if a solution was found. The alarm sets fine and locks all the door as normal but some times the alarm goes off for no reason. Can this be attributed to hot days or can the internal sensor be adjusted in any way. Many thanks for you help.

Hi,

There is a sensor mounted underneath the centre armrest, and I believe that it is adjustable, but have never tried to find it or adjust it myself.

However, it does seem sensitive to metallic objects - in my case a large bunch of keys - and after I stopped storing metallic objects in the cubby holes my random alarm problem went away, never to return. I suspect that some Mk 4s may be more sensitive than others. I seem to recall a thread from a couple of years ago where a Lexus agent adjusted someones sensor for them FOC. Hope this helps

Hi Alan

Thanks for that information, I will try removing my sunglasses from the centre armrest to see if that helps. Does anyone know how you get at the sensor under the armrest in case I need to adjust it.
