Parts Required. Front Discs , Pads, Timing Belt Kit Including Water Pu

Recommended Posts

Hi frds,

finally decided to change my timing belt for my 54 reg IS200 as it is now 6 year old (millage still 41K). By reading on this forum i have decided to change following items. please correct me if i need any thing else. Lexus genuine prices including VAT in brackets

1- Timing belt (34)

2- Tensioner (66)

3- Idler (70)

4- Water Pump (it is leaking so not optional change) (136)

5- By pass pipes and o'rings

6- Front discs (124)

7- Front pads (52)

8- Rear pads (32)

514 pounds just for parts + 5 hours labour from a good garage means another 225= around 800 minimum.

I found the following link on eBay. can some one please confirm if this is good and I should go ahead and buy as i cant afford the above prices for parts

http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item45ef99f597

For discs and pads the link below is too good to be true

http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item3eeee1c5de

Now the question is where i can buy them for good price and good quality. I got quote from Lexus for all this work including labour is just over 1100 quids.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Cheers

I really can't comment on the eBay sellers but your in the right place for cheaper parts.

Have you looked on Fensport?

Thats where I'll be getting my cambelt from and its cheaper than Lexus. That said, the price for that kit including tensioners does look good.

This forum is quite slow moving compared to others I've been on so don't hold your breath on conclusive feedback about those sellers!

If you really need to order it then go through his feedback and see if anyone else has bought it and see what they thought, maybe drop them a message and they'll come back quicker I expect. Same applies to the brakes dude!

Good luck

Id stick to genuine parts. Is there no way you can do some or all of the work yourself?

Cheers all for the reply and sorry for the late reply. I finally managed to buy all parts.

@Stani1029- I am so useless when it comes to DIY. I cant even change the tyres. by the way I am an accountant! that will explain why.

Front brakes discs & pads and rear pads only- Mintax for £97 on eBay

timing belt kit & water pump other bits from Andy Cross (Lexus Poole). very helpful gentleman and he gave me a decent discount on genuine parts- for £266

So total parts costs me £363. Add 5 hour labour with Charlesworth Mortors and it will cost me just under £600 for the full job.

Still lots of money but much better than £1100 quoted by Lexus Bolton!

Cheers

Glad to hear you are all sorted re the parts, Mintex are good quality items so should be fine with the brakes. I've only just seen this post so would have suggested Andy for the genuine Lexus parts.

Make sure you get the labour cost confirmed in writing before the work is started.

All in all a good 25% saving on parts(you check the figures you're the accountant! lol)
