Hi all,

Spraying my std chrome headlights and fogs soon. I want the 2005 tinted OEM look which I already have on my std rear clusters.

Was wondering if any paint experts out there could recommend an off the shelf can colour that would best match the dark grey tint of the later 2004+ headlights and fogs? Is it a dark chrome, or a matt grey? If anyone could recommend a Halfords can that would be awesome!?

I thought I might aswell spray my chrome ones and save the £300+ Lexus want for a set of the darker OEM lights ;-)

Cheers

Bill

There were actually two finishes - if your front lights are chrome I imagine you have the black chrome rear lights (as I do on my 2002 car).

The post 04 cars have a satin bronze type finish (front and rear) so look slightly different........are you trying to match your rears or match the newer lights?

Probably best to match my rears. You are right I have a 2001 model so I do have black chrome rears.

Not gonna get that finish in my lights so I was just gonna go for OEM 2005 lights. They aren't far off really having looked at pics.

What colour would you recommend for 2005 OEM front lights?

I think a dark grey (in gloss to match the rears or matt to match the newer lights) would work reasonably well, the actual later lights have a hint of bronze in them so not sure if it would be easy to find paint that colour.

Think Ill go for a matt grey....It would be good to match the rears however, I want to keep them matt to minimise glare from my HID kit. I have to say I noticed a huge reduction in glare when you spray the internals of your headlights ;-)

Is the corner section where the indicator sits the same colour inside? Is it just the glass that makes it look different from certain angles?

Thanks for the help.

Cool yeah that probably makes sense. Yes I believe it is dark behind where the indicator lenses are too, that's why the orange looks a bit darker - but you could always remove the orange lens as many have done which does arguably look better :)
