Hi All, I'm a new Lexus owner, the car i have bought is a Mk1 GS300 sport. It's in very good condition, and everything works fine. I love the car, looks great.

I have a few small issues with it though that i'm hoping you experts may be able to help me out with or point me in the right direction.

I noticed not long after i had bought the car that the brand new tyres on the rear were wearing unevenly not really badly but noticably more on the inner edges.plus, it tracks badly on the truck ruts on motorways. I took it for a full geo set up but the guys doing the work found that both the camber and track adjusters on the rear are siezed in the bushe sleaves. reading other posts, it looks like no one has managed to free these off, so i'm left with 2 choices either buy the 4 arms plus the bolts from the greedy lot at Lexus for £800, or fit the bushes that PRI Racing have on their site, and buy the bolts again from Lexus which will be about £150, much more like it!! all i want to know is has anyone done this, as i have had experience of poly bushes in the past, and they work, but also manage to turn your car in to a crashing vibrating nightmare. This is something you can live with when its a MK1 golf, or hot hatch, but i bought the lex to have some smoothness, and i really dont want to lose that.

The second point is exhausts, i would say my car still has its original pipe, so its now 14 years old, and starting to blow around the back box area, again Lexus have thought of a number doubled it and then added a zero + Vat !! so at £900 i wont be paying them a visit. i have spoken to a fella up in Walsall at MIJ EXHAUSTS, and he seemed spot on, he had done a fair few GS 300's and the product looks pretty good, full stainless, life time gaurentee, and hand build to your spec, anyone had one of these systems fitted, if so whats the verdict?

Well just want to say, thanks for reading my first post, and i hope to get some replies.

Cheers to all!!

:D

Hi Rob and welcome to the LOC.

I've heard some bad results with the poly bushes,as you say they are quite hard when it comes to the ride comfort, there is a good resource site www.lexls.com although aimed towards LS models there are some good tips on there for bush replacements also www.lextreme.com,they might give you some more ideas when it comes to replacements.

As for the exhaust the later models I believe are stainless steel so never rust but there are many companies that will manufacture a ss system for you.

Regards,

Steve

Hi steve, cheers!

Yeah, thats what i was worried about, i just dont want to end up with a crashy ride, but the Lexus alternative is far to much money. I will look at the site you have recommended, thanks for that. whats frustrating is the bushes are fine, its just the adjuster bolts are siezed, i would prefer to be able to free them off and clean them grease them and refit. will have to spend a week with plus gas, then a few hours freeing them off. Seems there are many options when it comes to exhausts then.

Thanks again Steve,

Regards

Rob
