Having Problems With My Is200 Automatic Tramsmission

Driving is200 automatic then loss complete transmission, The car would not select any gears then came to a stop.

After switching the car off, then on again, it then allowed me to select drive and reverse then loss transmission again after 5mins.

I then transported the car to a transmission centre and got the gearbox serviced and checked. They also checked the speed sensors and could not find any fault. They told me it may be the ECU or an electric fault.

Has anyone come across this problem before. Do I need to change the ECU? or can it be reprogrammed?

Any Ideas where to go from here.

Thanks

PK

Does sound an unusual fault, best to get it checked over by Lexus to see whether they can come up with anything.

With the recent LS430 topic "Your transmission has melted Sir" diagnosis by a Lexus dealer and the consequent fight to get it replaced after they did a transmission oil flush I would think hard about it.

Does sound like an electronic control fault as opposed to a mechanical with it working OK for a while,so that leaves the ECU,wiring and shift solenoids.

Have you had a transmission diagnosis done to see if any codes flag up?

BTW Welcome to the LOC.
