Rx450H Disable Seat Belt Warning

Recommended Posts

Hello

First time on here.

Does anyone know if it is possible to disable the seat belt audible warning on RX450H?

I managed to do it on my previous RX400H using the "odo technique" posted on here on several occassions, but that does not appear to work on the RX450H.

Dealer says that he does not know how to do it as it is part of the "engine management system"

Grateful for any replies. Having got rid of it on the previous model- it is now back to haunt me!

Cheers

Why on earth would you want to do this? It goes off when you put the belt on and you never hear it again. Surely you do not drive without a belt? Seems a silly idea.

My post went to the question as to how to disable the audible seat belt warning, not whether it was a good idea to do it.

That matter has long been debated on this forum and, if you are interested in that aspect, you can search for the various views that have been expressed.

The reason most of us want to turn off this noise is when either the rear seat belt has tightened so the passenger cant breath and it has to released momentarily to reset it or reparking in a carpark. I don't need an idiot car buzzing at me to tell me what I already know. I find most Lexus drivers are intelligent enough to know if they are belted or not.

I've been a RX300 driver for the last 7 years. I never, ever, drive on the highway without a seat belt. I remove the belt if I'm in a tight space to park or in any car park. I feel more in control to move in the seat without it. The buzzer was a pet hate and I'm grateful to whoever first posted on how to disable it. Genius! :P

Is'nt the buzzer dependent on the speed of the vehicle? You don't travel at speed in car parks do you?

I do try and keep below 70mph in car parks !! No, on the 2004 and 2005 RX the buzzer is on at any speed unless you switch it off. I know which I'm happiest with.
