Tyres On My Gs300 Sport Mk1

i have the same size tyres front and rear on my mk1 sport, but the guy doing my MOT thought i should have a slightly wider tyre at the rear as the side walls looked a bit tight/straight .........he siad most BMs and Mercs had a slightly bigger tyre at the rear and thought maybe mine should too

they are getting down to the legal limit and i will be changing them soon...............

should they be wider??

Depends what wheels you have at the rear, if you have the 10" wide rear wheels (optional extra on the Sport), then you should have 275/35 18's on the rear. If the wheels are the same as the fronts, then they have the same size tyres all round as far as I am aware. Nothing stopping you putting slightly wider ones on the narrow rear wheels of course.

would the smaller tyre from front still fit the 10" RIM....................maybe the last owner made a mistake and got 4 all round

i may go for a slightly larger tyre anyway, may get the guy to check when i get new rears

If you have the wider rear wheels it would be almost impossible not to notice. I doubt very much that you have the wider wheels from your comments......although you don't say what size tyres are on now.

I would be surprised if a tyre fitter would fit them by mistake even if ordered like that. As Dave mentions, it would be very obvious.

I would be surprised if a tyre fitter would fit them by mistake even if ordered like that. As Dave mentions, it would be very obvious.

I will check, but as i said, it was the fitter that mentioned it, the MOT tester also commented

the walls on the rear tyres are flat as opposed toslightly bulbous and it was that, that they commented on, the front tyres are slightly curved out wards

It might be helpful if you could post the size of the tyres which are currently fitted to your car.........front and rear.
