Anti Squeal Kit

Hi people,

I need to get the clips that hold the front pads in place and also need to get the springs that spread the pads apart. I was wondering what the anti squeal kit consists of and whether it covers both front calipers or only one. Im just seeing if this is a cheaper route to go down rather than buying all the parts individually.

thanks

The front kit consists of the parts to do both sides of the car.

This pic might help a bit ...

In the kit you get 8 pad support plates (4 of the upper and 4 of the lower).

The lower ones have springy bits on the side and bottom where the end of the pad sits in and an adhesive pad approx 1mm thick underneath.

The upper ones only have the springy bit on the side where the pad sits and not the adhesive pad underneath.

Also in the kit are 2 pairs of the wirey anti-squeal springs whose ends clip into corresponding holes on the back edge of the pads.

I think those might only be good for the Lexus pads though.

I seem to remember when I had Mintex pads fitted those holes might not have been there ....

Something in that fit kit definitely wasn't needed anyway ...

Perhaps someone with more recent experience of those can confirm that I haven't gone completely bonkers.

So, what do 8 pad support plates and 4 anti squeal springs cost ..... would you believe around 70 quid :whistling:

Part number is 04947-30090 if you're interested .....

If you only want 4 of the upper type of pad support plates there's some on eBay at the moment.

Quick search for item no. 170439563188

Hope that helps

The kit I mentioned above was the front pad fitting kit.

That doesn't include the shims.

They're a different kit - the 'front brake anti-squeal shim kit' would you believe :)

Consists of anti-squeal shim and inner anti-squeal shim (see pic) for each of the 4 front pads + sachet of gungey stuff to smear on them.

Part no. 04945-30140 and cost for this shim kit was about 40 quid this time last year.

You might get away with cleaning up + regunging existing shims.
