Is200 Wheel Refurbishment

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

When I got my used IS200 from a dealer, the wheels were not refurbished. SO......after giving them grief, they're allowing me to get them done, then send them the bill.

Just been to the alloy refurb place (they're very good - I've used them before) and they've given me loads and loads of ideas now.

I have a granite sky IS200sport (std).

They can completely paint (i.e. no shiney bit). They can completely polish (i.e. ALL shiney bit!). They can do anthracite, black, red etc. etc.

However.....what they can also do is "black chrome". Which is like a chrome finish with black in it. Kind of like a pearlescent paint would look. They can also do ANY colour I so desire.

Oh, I have the std 17" IS200 alloys (you all know the ones I mean).

Has anyone done it.......do you have suggestions.....opinions? Anything greatly accepted!!

I'm considering the black chrome. (no anthracite/black etc, think that would look wrong on dark car!)

Ta all :)

well.....it's normally £40+vat per wheel. However, the "black chrome" is £60+vat/wheel.

So what I'll do is ask the company to do me a receipt for regular refurb (which is what lexus are gonna pay for so I can send them the bill) and then pay the rest over and above myself.

Problem is......it will cost me £188 to put it back right if it looks wrong !!!!

is the completely polished one, like the edges on the standard wheels but all over the wheel, or is it chrome, as in very shiny (like the headlights)?

Your wheels look real good on your car PeeJ !!

Bit worried that my colour can change a fair bit though. By that I mean that in some lights it looks light, and in some lights it looks dark, so doing very dark wheels on my colour I reckon could not work.

They alloy company I went to showed me a set exactly like yours.....really do think they look good !!

So ladies and gentleman, you all think I should get black chrome all over, hey !?!

oh.....and this pic gives a good idea of black chrome finish
