I was almost stationary in a slow moving London traffic when this stupid kid cycled into the beautiful front wing of my Lex. This stupid kid fell but admitted it was her fault. When the cops arrived, the ***** had already been taken to the hospital by the ambulance. Can I get the :tsktsk: parents to pay for the repairs done to the front wing or do I have to claim it through my insurance considering that it is not my fault and the kid has admitted the fault whilst witnesses were around?

Really gutted for you mate

Was it a pushbike or motorcycle???

Cos if it's a pushbike, I wouldn't hold your breath about getting the damaged repaired....

Do you know this child as you seem pretty aware of her mental state and the fact she is a ***** .I am thinking she did not do it on purpose and this was an accident so i would think that if you spoke to her parents they would be willing to pay for the damages to the car, i know i would if one of my girls cycled into someones car.If not your insurance or a small claims court is the only way.Good luck

Sorry to hear it mate, do feel for you.

Not sure what you can do. I guess if the kid has admitted to it, then contact the Police and they should be able to put you in contact with the kid and his family

If the parents contest it, then you've always got the witnesses to back up your story.

Could go one of two ways, either the family will apolgise and offer to pay for the repair work, or they maybe say it's your fault that there kid was hurt.

Hope you get it sorted quickly

cyclists and motorbikes :tsktsk: me off

speak to the police and get the details then take the parents to small claims if they won't pay for the damage

nearly had an accident with a motorbike yesterday, in the left hand lane, indicating left and just starting to turn when a bike starts to undertake me. i used to stop and let them past but i've given up now, if a bike wants to drive into the side of a turning car its up to them - they will end up having to pay for the damage since undertaking a turning car is a stupid thing to do!

sure I heard of proposals not ong ago, to change the law so that any accident between a bike and car was automatically the cars fault?

so basically, if a bike comes through red lights, on the wrong side of the road - and you collide - it is the car drivers fault.

I think that was only cyclists and pedestrians, not motor bikes.

I don't fancy your changes PQuist of getting money from the parents, I'm sure theres no legal obligation.

yeah - check it out

linkage

Excerpt:

We would want motor vehicles to have no fault liability in relation to personal injuries sustained by pedestrians and cyclists and a presumption that where there has been a collision, the larger or faster vehicle is to blame.

that is so :tsktsk: stupid! why do we have to pay up for some idiot who either is a ****** for riding a bike, or cant afford a car!

some of the laws in this country absolutely take the :tsktsk:

yeah - thats what I think to Rick

But I read PQuists post a child on a bike - not a motorbike?

:tsktsk: y :tsktsk: ing :tsktsk: holes.

I think as you say, the parents will probably be reasonable.

When I road into the back of a car years ago in the rain (doing the rear window in!), my dad went there the next day offering to pay for damages. The bloke was really nice though and got his insurance to coff up!

Hope the child is ok ,a lot harder to fix than a car .Am i the only parent on this site I can understand your anger towards motorbikes swerving in and out of traffic etc but it is stated that the girl went to hospital .Lets get our priorites right was she badly injured

Speaking of the child's point of view...

I think they should make it the law that children MUST wear helmets when cycling on public roads!

There is another route??

If you've got the address of the parents and they wont pay for the damages ie(cash)

then you can with the help of the police and statement, considering it the cyclists fault!!

can claim off the household insurance.

If it was a small amount i simply would'nt bother.

cars are replacable...........lets hope he/she is o.k

Children shouldn't be cycling in London, I wouldn't want to cycle in London and I'm an experienced mountain biker (5 years of 4 - 6 hours per day). Any parent that lets their child cycle in London is not being a responsible parent.

Hmmmm, bad karma on the motorbike front. Yes, if you weave thru traffic then you get what you deserve, and I've seen it happen to a mate (and it was 100% his fault on that ocassion). But to be fair, there's as many ****s in cars as there are on bikes. Let's hope they find each other and do us all a favour ;)

Want something even more annoying?

Kids playing football in the cul-de-sac I live in, and their ball hits my bonnet. I was over on the park with my dog (park is 10 yds from our street BTW and fence forms the end of the cul-de-sac) I return to the house and go and inspect my car, and there is a fricken great big graze and red and blue paint on it (graze if from grit I suppose on the ball as they were playing on concrete) . I will take a photo tomorrow so you can see, I then ask which kid it was who kicked the ball, only to be told that they never hit the car. I get their ball and show them the red and blue logo which is now scraped into my bonnet.

When I then approached the parents they said I cant prove it was their kids and wont even try and discuss it, I am considering looking into the matter further as I am just about sick of these little buggers playing football in the street when there is a perfectly large park a stones throw away.

It sickens me that these people are my neighbours and this is how they are raising their children, to have no consideration for others.

Other thoughts include a small webcam watching my parking space so I can show proof of damage......

Kids will always be kids and ride their bikes when they shouldn't, have their helmets dangling from their handlebars instead of wearing them, and play football in the street instead of the park (Grrr).

Parents should be responsible in educating their children - ensuring they have a sense of what's right and wrong, and to show consideration for other people. Speak to the parents and see if they'll pay up. Hopefully they'll have some morals and at least offer to meet you half way.

Hopefully the girl involved in the accident is ok - at the end of the day, no matter how annoying and aggravating it is to have your car damaged, it's a damn site easier to fix than a person.

to be fair these's more ****s in cars than there will ever be on bikes.

motorbike cbt should be compulsary when taking car driving test.

it would make more people aware of bikers vunerability on the roads.

ride a bike and see how bad car drivers really are. it really opens your eye's

sorry about damage to your car . and good luck getting anything from parent's.

they should be prosecuted for letting a minor on the roads of london..

hope the kids ok

not disclaiming comment about car drivers

but with the vunerability of motorbikes, why do some still ride as if they are invincible

some of the riding ive seen especially in london, they really seem to take stupid risks

they have got to realise the ****s in cars are everywhere, and they are allways going to come of second best
