Engine Bay Detailing

Bought some Meguires engine bay detaling products this week, just seeing if anyone has any tips or pointers on what to cover up in the bay. Obviuosly the Battery and air intake, and anything that looks as though it shouldnt be wet. What are everyones experience's with giving the engine bay a good de-grease and clean?

you don't need to cover the Battery or the air intake just dont aim right up the intake as for everything else it should be ok as long as you dont jet them directly.

spray on the cleaner brush in leave for ten mins then hose off.

Just as long as your are sensible you will be ok, if you are worried about certain things cover them with a plastic shopping bag or tin foil moulds well, if pressure washing turn down the pressure if you can & stand back a rinse is better then trying to blast dirt off, I would start with a cold engine, rinse, spray on your cleaner, agitate with a brush in all nooks & crannies leave to dwell for a few minutes & then rinse off, dry off what you can with old cloths & then you could start the engine & let run for a while to help dry out a bit more, once dry off with the engine & apply dressing, gently wipe off any excees dressing job done, lovely !

whats parts would you advise are covered just to be on the safe side? :-)

previously in my 525 BMW... i got the guys at the jetwash to clean the engine.. but then the parking sensors stopped working

luckily a day later they dried up and starting working again (just dont want to risk anything messing up on the Lex)
