Popping The Car In Reverse...

I've noticed something funny with my car... not sure if it's always been like that so here I go with my explaination:

My usual routine, start the car, pop the car in reverse, handbrake down and drive.

Lately... when I put the car in reverse... it moves... even with the handbrake on!

Now my question is

1) is this normal?

2) Should I put the handbrake off when I start the car?

Any advice or experiences with this?

Many thanks,

Uzzi

Bit of a wild guess here but we're talking about an auto right?

Sounds like your handbrake might need tightening up as above, have you tried pulling it right up as far as you can and seeing if the car still moves? Either way are you saying you put the car in reverse and then come off the footbrake before releasing the handbrake?
