I had a problem with my sub in that the connector where the wires are soldered onto the sub was broken (snapped by previous owner carelessly loading the boot). This allowed the part of the wire that went from the solder pad into the coil of the speaker to move around more than it should. When playing bassy music such as Val Doonican's rocking chair rock :nuke: , the excursion of the sub cone would cause the wire to touch on the basket of the subwoofer, shorting it to ground and would make a noise like a moulinex blender full of walnuts :yack:. Dealer replaced under warranty with a new subwoofer which I notice has a plastic cover all over the underside to protect the cone and connectors. This makes me think that I can't be the first person that this happened to.
