Removing Front Acessory Socket (cig Lighter)

Recommended Posts

My passenger the other day pulled out the cig lighter plug and the base came part of the way out with it. It's all rather loose and unuseable. I assume the outer shell is secured by a nut or something behind the Walnut panel. Any ideas for getting to the back of this without potentially doing damage?

I assume because it's all loose it has lost it's earth.

I have seen the American website that explains how to take out the Walnut panel but that is for the 94 model. Mine is the 95 and has differences.

Thanks

The main difference between the 95 and pre 95 models seems to be the walnut is one long curved piece on the 95+ models. It has a one piece horizontal and vertical section. I assume I would still attack it at the back end but I'm not sure what kind of fasteners it has at the top end.

I dread to think what the cost would be if I beggered it up. Everything is difficult until you've done it.

Still, why worry!

I'm doing a 100 mile trip in it tomorrow. Longest journey I've been in it after a months ownership. Can't wait.

Filled the tank today right up as a reference for later MPG check. Paid at the kiosk and as I walked back to the car two people were pointing at it.

I thought the petrol was leaking out but I had left the filler cap on the boot.

I must have been in a trance having just paid £58 for 3/4 tank of petrol.

Bit more of the kids inheritance gone - not my money!
