Is 200 Spark Plugs

Just wondered whether anyone has bought any spark plugs lately. My Lexus is200 is fast approaching its next service. There were some months back a couple of eBay links , however neither one appears to work at the present time. I'm looking for the 60,000 plug.....

The OEM long-life plugs are either Denso SK20R11, or NGK IFR6A11. You should be able to find some on eBay. It used to work out cheaper to get them from the US, even given the shipping, but given current exchange rates I'm not sure that's any longer true.

email the guy and ask for 6 as i cant find anyone selling 6.

Those aren't the long-life ones though Asi, those need changing at 30K miles. Although they're the ones that I use myself (IK20).

well he person who i bought the car off put IFR6T11 plugs in them and now i have to change the engine due to one breaking in the engine so wont risk it mate.

Good question. I was looking into this, because Asi had IFR6T11 plugs in his car and he had the end of one of them melt/break off. It's definitely IFR6A11 on Lexus's data sheets, but NGK's own website does show IFR6T11 for the IS200. So I don't know if perhaps this is a later model which superseded the IFR6A11 ? Bit worrying what happened to Asi's though

I bought some in march...the cheapest place around is in manchester but they trade on eBay as well...

they're the 60k version. I've found them very good in my car with no problems at all.

the seller is also very cheap for mintex pads etc

Lexus Birmingham are selling a lot on eBay just now mate might be worth checking if they have any.

From the earlier topics I have read on this - people tend to recommend the Denso ones over the NGK. The Denso long life plugs are SK20 and the performance ones are IK20.

Try this mate, I got mine from here really quick.

There is a "tough" spec which I think is the long life ones.

Personally, and not meaning any disrespect, I don't really understand the logic of going for the longer-life Densos over the higher-performance IK20s.

The IK20s are cheaper and are higher performance, why wouldn't you buy those ? ok, they need changing in 30K miles rather than 60K, but they're not exactly a high-cost item or difficult to swap, and 30K miles is quite a long way off anyway surely ?

Strange thing is the tough ones are VK20 but the OEM 60k miles ones are SK20 - can't find a reference to them on google or eBay though. Looking at the list of SK20 (there are 3 types) they are over £10 each which is pretty expensive.

Personally I would go for the Denso ones. Any for me, the original long life ones Save the hassle (albeit small) of swopping them and risking damagin the coil packs.

Performance difference will be negligable anyway.

You shouldn't be able to damage the coil packs through swapping the plugs if that's what you're saying.

As for the performance difference, I agree you're not probably going to notice the performance increase, but it should also help fuel consumption very slightly, and that probably will add up to a worthwhile figure over the long run !

The difference i noted was stronger low end torque and a smoother engine when swapping to IK20s but then it may have just been the effect of new plugs.

Also i agree with Steve I can't see how you can damage to coilpacks when changing the plugs.

you wont damage coil packs if your switching over spark plugs. unless you harsh with them when you take them out.

Yeah its not bad at all, even on eBay there generally around £10 each. The VK20 (60,000 mile type) are available too for extra £15-ish. I didnt think it was worth the extra cash.
