Hi all

Has anyone removed an outer window chrome trim from a Mk1 door, my brothers is starting to rust from underneath it and we need to get it off to treat the rust properly, it is so tight to the door that you can't see how it is held on and as they are probably £100's from the dealer we wondered if anyone has any ideas before we break it...

Thanks

Hi Pete hope you are well,

I think they are stuck on with adhesive similar to the rear boot badges, I bought some label remover for my rear badges and this softens the glue and helps removal.

I will have a look for the make and supplier if you wish.

Cheers,

Steve

Hi Steve

I am well, hope you are, I do drop in all the time to read up on what you lot are up to. The trims are definatly held on with some form of clip as its the clips cutting into the top edge of the door that is causing the rust, it's in several evenly spaced places on both rear doors. It's just that it looks like the trim will break if you prise it off... just wondered if anyone had done it or has anyone got an old door they can go and have a go at!!!!!
