Just thought I'd been the unluckiest person alive looking for VIP Aristos and then saw this:

To be fair this is the first time I've seen it inaccessible for more than a few seconds in the nearly ten years I've used it - someone will be proper getting their arse kicked over this one though!

Must be something major as temporarily you'd have thought they'd just hardcode something to force it to think all webpages are good to hide the problem while they sort out whatever process flags up potential malware!

Actually I'm just looking at some sites which would flag up as malware normally and they're not being flagged - looks like they have hardcoded it or just flat turned it off to let everything slip through while they fix it :D

Looks like it was caused by an outage at stopmalware.org?

Someone's head will definitely roll - that's if it didn't already - just read this about the filter they use:

"We periodically receive updates to that list and received one such update to release on the site this morning. Unfortunately (and here's the human error), the URL of '/' was mistakenly checked in as a value to the file and '/' expands to all URLs. Fortunately, our on-call site reliability team found the problem quickly and reverted the file," Google said in its official blog.

They need to give their staff more training on regex from the sounds of things and I'd bet the code has already been updated to stop them adding that expression in future
