One Thing I Miss...

Recommended Posts

About my old car is the CD player that could also read MP3/WMA formats.

It was a JVC and I could burn around 700 tracks onto a CDR meaning I only needed to carry four CD`s in the car, and have all the music I wanted.

Is it possible to remove the CD unit from my 98 LS400 and replace it with a stand alone CD head unit with mp3 capability ?

Or wouldn't this work ?

Or better still does anybody make a replacement unit that can read mp3 cd`s ?

Cheers

Mark.

My new double din JVC does MP3 CD and DVD, so if you burn a DVD you will only need 1 disk just leave it in the head unit!! I am sure you can remove teh standard fit unit but I don't have your car so maybe a member with some info about the internals of your car will be able to help you

I was looking at those in Halfords, the new ones can read double layer DVD`s so around 8000 songs on a single disc !!

Now I want one even more.

I dont mind if I have to make up a bracket to replace the multi player CD unit and then fit a new head unit in its place.

The only thing is, I wonder how it would be seen by the screen unit , if at all ? And if the connectors on the back of the Lexus CD unit are standard ?

Cheers Pete,

I was thinking more along the lines of replacing the multi player thats hidden in the upper glove compartment.

Just wondering if this can be replaced and if the existing screen in the consul will see it ?

Hi

Don't know I'm afraid, I've fitted a Kenwood DVD SAT NAV touch screen thingy to my Verso and you can get an interface so the steering wheel buttons work, maybe someone has done one for the 400..... try the US site they love the 400 more than we do and what you can get there is amasing....

Good Luck

Pete
