Problem With Sub And Speakers

Recommended Posts

hi there,

i have fitted the sub one month ago but today for some reason the speakers stopped working while the sub was working. the only way to get the speakers working would be by turning the car completely off and turning it back on. also noticed the front passenger side makes crackly noises when the car is completly turned off maybe it something to do with that?

well the sub is a vibe active. i took the aux wires out the sub. now the front spearkers cut out and only the back ones work.

so how do i fix this?

is everything else original?

how have you wired it up?

are any of the speakers running off the amp?

the front speaker has blown you need to replace it, it is making the protection come on on the amp... only the replace the front speakers as a pair if you are not going to stick with the standard ones. I think that the standard speakers are 2ohm speakers, so if you replace it with after market 4ohm speakers it will be slightly quieter at the front end.

the only way to solve it is to replace the speaker.

hope this helps.

thought it would be that...if i replace it with aftermarket speakers would they fit and would the wiring be the same

thanks

Yes the wiring will be the same, just make sure you get the positive and the negatives round the right way...

you will most probably need a spacer or the new speaker will hit the window. you can either make one yourself out of MDF, buy a pair at Halfords i beleive autoleads make some or you can cut the middle out of the existing speaker and use the plastic frame as a spacer but its up to you...

i would reccomend infinty reference range but if your running them with a decent amp and you dont mind spending the money on infinity kappa range then get them, but if you do you should really replace the rear aswell because other wise the rear will let down your system and you probably end up blowing them anyway.
