Advice Sought

After some advice please on the best digital camera you can get for about 130 quid.

Guy at work left and we had a collection....spent most but have 130 quid left and his digital camera broke the other week.

He's a point and shoot guy in terms of photography skill but does like gadgets.

Any suggestions?

His leaving party is on 18th so need before then

I've always gone for the Canon IXUS range for point and shoot and always been happy - maybe one of these:

Cheers aido .... Not been keeping my eye on cameras for some time .... Amazing what you can get for your money now. ;) ..still remember paying over 400 for my old 3mp minolta

I know - heartbreaking isn't it!

Half tempted to get an upgrade for just the image stabilisation bit, that has to be one of the best features that ever got added to a point and shoot camera!

Fuji also so some really good ones from the pics I've seen on here but never used one myself but they're another option to bear in mind

I have had a Canon IXUS and now have an Olympus, both very good cameras :D

I'd go for a Canon too, think they're still the best compacts

I've always had the Fuji cameras (got 4 at the moment) and have always been very impressed by what they offer,The newer models are really good and something like fuji s8000fd is a good piece of kit, But depends on if you want to buy him a pocket compact or something slightly bigger? :)

The IXUS range are pretty small, so probably would appeal to your friend's gadget-loving nature.

i tested about 15 of these things today..

was sold on the ixus 85 slightly out side of the budget at 146 online but you may find one.. if not then the ixus 80 should do the trick..
