Hi All,

have just changed my car and am told that my new Lexus ('new' to me) has 'solid' paint. Can anyone enlighten me as to the difference between Solid, Mica and Metallic.

Layman's terms would be ideal. Thanks, Graham.

solid contains nothing, normally basic whites and reds

mica contains mica particles within the paint to enhance and reflect the colour

metallic much the same but with metallic particles

Got a newer Lexus Graham ? Another LS ?

BTW thanks for the info Barrie, had hearda of mica but didn't know anything about it.

Now I know one thing about it

Lol, yeah mica's pretty cool in that the mica particles are translucent, which leads to the light refracting and is why you'll see different colours in mica paint (whereas you don't in metallic paint) :)

I have Wozza, a 2006 430 in solid black with black interior. All the toys and gizmos and I can't wait 'til Sunday to pick her up. Traded my '99 400, which I thought was in pretty good condition and the best deal I could get for her was £3000!!!!.

All relative really as I only gave £8000 and the car for the 'new'one. Probably the wrong time of year for a Butcher to be changing cars, but as soon as I have her nice and shiny, I will post some pics.
