Nearly Crashed

Nearly crashed my Lex this morning  . Was taking it to ToyotaGT for a cam belt change, and there was a Peugeot 306 turning left on the other side of the road (to go in the opposite direction from me). I was coming down the road quite quickly, accelerating after a junction.

But instead of turning left (as it was indicating), the Peugeot drove almost straight on, into the path of my car, ending up against the kerb (there was no "straight on" from where they were going). I slammed on the brakes, and on the very wet road I *just* stopped in time, a few inches from the other car. I have no idea what the other driver was trying to do, but it was most bizarre. They reversed back out of the way and I drove on, didn't speak to them (I was kind of shaken up anyway).

Feel lucky to have avoided major damage.

omg bet your heart was in your mouth its the worst feelin when that happens glad your ok

Thanks. Yeah, that moment when you have slammed on the brakes, and all you can do is wait and hope that it stops you in time

There was no-where else I could swerve too that would have helped, it was either hit the other car or stop just in time. Thankfully it was the latter. Luckily no-one hit me from behind either (which was something else I was half-expecting).

Mike_B's suggestion was a good one, I can only think that for some reason the other driver did make a mistake and then just panic ?
