Got my renewal quote from Churchill. £326 Fully comp 5yrs NCD £150 comp. excess nil voluntary. Various comparison sites giving qoutes of £320 - £1150.

Checked Churchill online and got £303 with £150 excess or £263 with Total of £300 excess.

Phoned them and a very helpful young lady got my renewal down to £250.95 with £150 comp. excess & £150 voluntary excess.

I had put occupation as unemployed but as I am actually on incapacity benefit it reduces the premium as apparently the assumption is that you won't be using the car to "actively seek work."

Similar substantial saving when renewing wife's insurance couple of months ago. Proves the point that you should never accept any renewal quotes without querying them.

Cars are not both with same insurer, but did remain with existing insurer in both cases after they reduced their quotes substantially.

You should get it at least 28days before expiry. Fortunately comparing quotes and giving your insurer the chance to lower their quote is relatively fast nowadays. I would be phoning to see where it was though!

My missus moved in with me in June. Her insurance company was told but when it came to renewal time last month they sent the reminder and the renewal quote to the old address! When she rang up to find out what was going on they couldn't explain it - they had down the new address as being current but still sent the papers to the old place. Idiots... Luckily it had only run out two days before she realised and she hadn't used the car in that time anyway.

No. I filled out the online form but didn't get sent quote.

For an is200? :o I thought mine was expensive at £251 for a GS430. Mine is parked on road and although 5 yrs NCD still have to declare wife demolishing the rear of a new Focus or Fiesta with my old GS300 Sport in 2006(nudged it on roundabout at about 2 mph) What sort of excess have you?

I did have full ncd but not anymore

Hope you can get a better quote before you renew. It's strange but Esure were by far the best for wife's car but quite expensive for mine, but whilst Churchill were good for my car, they were very high for her car. Different places have likes/dislikes on what car/driver risks they really want. Customer service from both has been really solid when needed as well, which is another factor to take into account when deciding.
