i've recently noticed that the lexus navigation is exactly the same as the alpine one :hocus-pokus:

does that mean its just got the same software, or could it possibly be also the same hardware?

the reason why i ask is that the alpine system has an add-on TMC tuner and whether this could then be added to the lexus system?

Please dont abuse me too much if this is totally ridiculous

The Lexus system is made by Denso

The system is produced by "Aisin AW"

Toyota, Saab, Mitsubishi, Audi and others use them.

Fujitsu + Alpine use these systems too.

Dealers would contact "AW Europe" for advice on Nav system problems

I'd assume each system is tailor made for application.

Amongst other things, Aisin AW are also responsible for the SC430 motorised roof.

does that mean that the alpine TMC tuner would also be made by this company?

therefore it may add on to the lexus nav :duh:

i think i may poke about a little on my nav system to see if there are any connectors for this sort of thing
