Damn, that's just crazy, at least he can't really argue it so you'll have no problems with the claim............

Quite a bizarre road layout though, where is that?

i do with an exhaust like that as i dont want road salt damaging such an expensive piece, its just a 5 min job to put the old one on which only costs a fraction and is already rusty.

used to do the same with wheels on one of my corollas, put steelies on for winter

Really sorry to hear that Chris :o

I do think you are a pefectionist and don't think that you would be happy with a repair. Hopefully you get the outcome you want!

Anees :)

bit of a strange comment, thats doubting any body shops work before its been done.....in which case, id choose another body shop

Sorry, I am not doubting the quality of any repair, its just that for some people the fact that their car has even been repaired puts them off and they don't feel the same about the car, no matter how good the paint job is.

My uncle is like this, if a car does not have original paint (for whatever reason) it totally puts him off and if ths his own car that had a repair he would just sell it immediately. :o

Strange I suppose to some.

just had a call from my mate, the bodyshop is coming to collect it from his workshop this morning, turns out the bodyshop is the company i used to work for so at least i know the people there

A little belated (not been on all weekend) but sorry to hear about your car Chris.....Hope everything turns out ok

Yeh me too. Sorry to see that man.

Saw photos on facebook. Any idea on fixing it yet? Shouldn't be a write off, I shouldn't think.

Could be worse, I assume their insurance is sorting it, and more importantly, nobody was hurt.

Sorry if goin :offtopic:

Though this is not a bad idea, will a stainless steel exhaust not be protected from rusting etc anyway? I thought that was the point of using stainless? My HKS has been on 4 years and not a sign of rust, same as previous cars.

(On the wheels, well thats a different matter!)

That's what I thought, and it's reassuring to hear that yours doesn't rust Stoney. I'm planning on getting an HKS Silent Hi-power too.

Been recovered to the bodyshop today and had a conversation with them which roughly results to

They wont know the extent of the damage until they have stripped it

At the moment its 50/50 of being written off.

We know the crumple zone on the chassis leg has done its job, its its just damaed upto the crumple zone the vehhicle will be repaired.

I've been told though that if the damage to the chassis leg goes beyond the crumple zone it would mean a new chassis leg, this would mean removing the engine. if this happens the cost of the labour would write it off.

That's not too bad I guess, I never get these hire car thingys, why do they give you a better car than the one you've got

Hope you get the outcome you want :)

my mistake its a C220

its done through a company called driver assist and they supply you a car closest to the spec of your own car

The value of the repair to mine is just short of £5000 so just awaiting an insurance assessor to inspect it and authorise it or claim it total loss

5k!!

where are they getting it done?? they must have some extortionate labour rates!! cant be more than 1.5k in parts unless there is something else wrong?? prob £500 in paint at most so 3k in labour??

Good luck with it mate but it will be close i think..
