Remove Rear Centre Head Restraint For Better View?

Recommended Posts

This is not recommended when a passenger is in the rear centre seat but otherwise removing the head rest

(1) gives a better view of the rear screen and behind and

(2) also you can tell when the red brake light (High mounted stop light) is on by the reflection in the window when you apply the foot brake - you need a certain amount of pressure for the light to come on?

This is not tied to the IS but many cars ....

I find the view out the back isn't great but don't think the centre headrest would make that much difference. I do think a slightly larger rear view mirror would have helped though because I can't see the whole of the rear windscreen through it.

I guess that's why a lot of the later model IS200's came with parking sensors, I think they're very useful on my car.

i dont find it that bad up or down, most cars are the same and if i removed it i think it would bug me every time i checked the r/v mirror knowing it should be there

Cant see the whole rear windscreen? Thats wierd

My mirror seems to have a slight curve to it because when lookin out of it everything seems slightly smaller (almost tunnel vision)

Maybe it depends how tall you are, unless the size/shape of the headrest changed or something ? The centre headrest doesn't obscure my view of the rear brake light or out of the back window from the driver's seat at all.

and with all due respect Stevie isn't 6'6" tall either :winky:

I find that the is has one of the best rear view mirrors iv ever looked into, gives a good pan of the back seated area.

Only draw back is no rear wipe, shame....

Ah, there is a few different kinds of mirror, you must have a different type to me, my mirror is definitely not curved.
