Snapped My Bonnet Clippy Thing!

Yesterday, seeing as it was soooo nice, i desided to have a go at cleaning under the bonnet.

Started with replacing a load of rusty bolts with s/steel allen bolts and a quick rub voer with the polish.

I had all but done and went to close the bonnet and noticed the rusty bonnet stay clippy thing had a rusty bolt too, but this was a slef tapper, so off to my trays of bits n bobs and what do you know found a nice new one to fit the bill, screwed it in place and it looked the boom.

"SNAP!" as i went to put the stay back...................!

ATM its held up with a cable tie and an old pipe clip, but would lick to have it sorted.

What price are these? or is there an easy fix?

Some people fit bonnet lifters. Much better solution. Can be a little costly though maybe?

Are you referring to Omega's post ? I could be wrong but thought they were saying they had an OEM bonnet clip thingy for sale.

I see what our all saying now about Omegas post...

Think ill sit tight for the mo on buying one till iv had a look for lifters on the net. But will keep it in mind Omega cheers.

I'm pretty sure the ProLex ones come with brackets.

How easy is it to fit the Prolex kit ? For example, if I was getting some other work done at a garage anyway, I presume they'd find it easy enough to fit ?

This happened to mine at 4 years old. Got a replacement from Lexus. It was in stock and was told that they go because the plastic becomes brittle after time in such an environment. Advise, treat them very very gently and maybe they will last a bit longer.
