Rev Light

Well i've been working on this for a while on and off, but finally got it working now.

Started off just wanting to make and fit a shift light. But after some talking with Geoffers he found me a design for a whole rev light.

Must thank him hugely for his help with some problems i had getting it working but with a couple of tweaks to the original design i finally got what i wanted:

The video doesn't do it full justice as you can distinguish more between the amber and red in real life.

Not fully finished, as prob gonna fit a small lip over the top to stop it shining right up but i think it looks awesome.

What you think?

cool but does it affect your vision of your dials

not really, but it certainly wont when i put a little lip over the top.

Was gonna have them pointing at me, but their so bright it'd blind me and i could be ****ed changing the resistors etc to dim them down.

they turn red at about 3000 rpm :whistling:

great idea but personally i would want the green lights at about 5800 rpm and the red at about 6200rpm

think otherwise it might be a bit off putting

They're actually amber at 3000 Baz, you just cant tell properly in the video, they go red at about 5000 or so.

the lights can be tweaked though so not finished yet,

now thats different. looks cool. so hows it all linked up to the rev counter then anyway? did it take much work?

Well the rev counter gives a 0-5v pulse signal, so you create a circuit to change that to an analog output them another circuit to respond to the output.
