Double Din System

Ive been reading up & have been told that lexus in car system are very poor, they intened to brake down alot ! Mine has & now the CD player does not work at all.

Can someone pls advice me which TYPE or SORT of after market double din system would fit into a IS200 on a V reg or would any fit.

Pretty much any decent double din unit can be fitted mate, (using either the Autoleads Facia or the Toyota part from the thread above)

& then depending on wether yours is an 'S' 'SE' or 'Sport' model you can either use an ISO connector ('S') or the bypass lead on eBay

(type is200 bypass and you will find suppliers).

PCIronmike recently added a JVC to his car here and he was very happy with it.

i have american 2din player in the is,so it will work.

but be aware.radio works,but not rds.most navigations dont work.

meh not looking at one with sat nav :) found a double din touchscreen with dvd that has a £100 price difference over the uk prices!

I'm unsure if the radio frequencies are the same, but if they are the same, don't forget customs charges

It's the frequencies you need to check on - I looked into this a while back and gave up because of the navigation problems...........as far as a standard headunit goes it's more straightforward. Most headunits can be switched from US frequencies (steps of 0.2MHz) to UK frequencies (steps of 0.05MHz) but you just need to make sure that the model you want to buy is switchable.

Also if you're buying one with a DVD player, the region is will be 1 but other than that it should all be fine :)

I've looked at one similar to the one Pcironmike has the JVC one, you mention about the region differences will this be non-transferable also?

possibly not mate, check with the supplier....

Imagine your face when freshly installed, only to find out it plays region 1 discs only... not such a bargain after all

I couldn't find any that were switchable, or could be hacked to be multiregion, but it must be possible I guess..........either way it didn't bother me as I planned to create DVDs off my PC so region coding wasn't important. Didn't do it in the end as I couldn't be bothered but the savings were massive.......was looking to get the Pioneer D3 and it was almost half the price in the states :o
