Hi all,

my wife drives a 2007 "jeep" don't want to make the actual make and model public till i know the outcome, but it's a less main stream maker from the east...

Anyway i recently noticed bubbling rust starting to appear in the rear boot lid seam and on further examination there's alot of panel rust in the engine bay behind the grille mostly...

I brought it to the dealers attention and he said it's the first he's ever seen as they are supposed to have a type of galvanising .... anyway he took pictures and sent them off to main HQ in Ireland, that was 3 weeks ago and today he said that they hadn't got back to him....

Hand washed the car yesterday and spotted some more spots of rust on the roof and on the metal that secures the rear no. plate... :( we do live near the sea but my 8 year old Altezza is parked right beside it and it's in great shape...

Anyway the stated manufactures warranty is 3 years paint and 8 years anti-perforation, so what does that entitle me to claim? this is the first car we've ever had that is still within the manufactures warranty and i don't know what i should expect?

I don't know if i'd be happy with just getting the rusty panels resprayed as alot of other parts in the engine bay and underneath look rusted too... here's an example of the "hidden" panel rust

To be honest i'm totally ****** off with myself for buying this brand and am thinking of just trading in in to a toyota or Honda dealer but i feel i should get the warranty work done first?

all advice welcome

Cheers

Rust is rust... that should be covered...

Saw a couple of brand new Hummers at the Great Yorkshire Show... both of them rusty underneath... total crap build quality as well.
