Recall All Pre 02 Models

Guys, don't you think it will be an idea for Lexus GB to recall all Is 200 pre 02 models and fix these rust on the brake drums and stone chip problems? Maybe we can all write a letter and send it to Lexus GB and get watchdog involved. I had a Peugeot 306 which is half the price of my Lexus and never suffered any rust

Good idea, but don't think they'll ever go for it as mechanically the cars are not affected and aren't dangerous. The recall costs far outweigh what it costs Lexus if and when people return to the dealers and complain.

If you think, the alloys and corrosion are a well known problem and it's STILL hassle to sort them out with some dealerships! Mine's off to Octogon Lexus on Weds, so hopefully they'll be an exception and replace my wheels without any arguments ;)

Does that infer then that post 02 models dont have paint probs? Thats the one big disappointment with my 99 that the paint seems not to be up to the job... :duh:

Talked to my LEXUS dealer today and he said that the

warranty has been extended to 100k on the wheels

and hubs?

Is this 100K time limited i.e within the 3 yrs

My warranty has run out but I spoke to Lexus GB and told them that once it is a know problem, I think they have to be resposible for the corrosion until the life time of the care. The lady that I spoke to agreed and will be speaking to my local dealership.

Lexus have agreed to change all 5 wheels due to the corrosion and extend the warranty for free on the wheels till 100K miles

My local dealer said any replacements on my car is covered by 1 year warranty from the date of replacement.

Categorically not. Mine is March '02 and it's awful.

Is this just an IS issue or is there anyone who has successfully claimed with an RX? My wheels certainly suffer from excessive black staining that I cannot remove and 'rust' points. My wifes Pug doesnt suffer at all for the same age
